What is 'The Writer's Commute'...

The idea

The writers’ commute is the reason you should pick up your pen again and get creative; the platform is here for you to share.

As an English Lit and Creative Writing graduate, since leaving Uni I found myself writing less and less, with work taking up more of my time, and writing getting pushed aside. Being someone who has always loved writing this frustrated me. Without Uni, I realised that the platforms I once used were no longer available, and I came up with a plan of starting a blog to encourage myself to write more, by giving myself a platform to share. However, it was only when speaking to friends and family who also enjoy writing that it hit me. If so many of us want or enjoy writing, but have no easy platform to put it out there, why not create one for us all and start an online community?

My aim is to create a hub of writing, where the voices and opinions of ordinary people like us can be read and encouraged; not just those in the media.

So why the writers' commute?

For those of us doing a '9-5', the commute is often one of the few precious times in the day to think, read or reflect. It's a moment of in-between; the bridge from home to work which connects us all. Not only does it reflect the hustle of our busy working lives, but also is a time when so many different people are often together, yet are in silence. So if we‘re not going to speak in real life on the trains and buses (let's be honest we all know that'll never happen), why not start that conversation online? So that‘s what I aim to do. Start a community where people from all walks of life can write and 'commute' together, whether that just be a small snapshot of creativity on the move or something larger.

What makes this unique?

I want this to be a platform to encourage and empower writers of all abilities and of all backgrounds. A fresh place to write. That's why rather than me pitching ideas to you, it's over to you to pitch to me...

WRITE FOR US

Do you have an idea?

My aim is to encourage and share writing from all kinds of voices and bring them together. From a review of a book or a series, to a story or opinion, I want to hear it. No matter what the writing is, I promise to always get back to you. So go ahead and pitch your ideas below...
